Great Canal Cruise

A cruise on the Göta Canal in Sweden

The Great Canal Cruise is our extensive four-day cruise that takes you via the Göta Canal from Gothenburg to Söderköping, or vice versa. The boat is docked during the nights, so that you don’t miss out on the sights along the route. You can also book a bus transfer from Söderköping to Stockholm. As on all of our cruises, the price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on board.

This cruise on board M/S Wilhelm Tham is ideal for those who wish to experience the best parts of the canal in a shorter format.  The Great Canal Cruise is an affordable alternative where you will explore the route during the day. On board you will meet travelers from different parts of the world.

All this is included

Sights along the route

During the cruise you will get the opportunity to explore the lock staircase in Trollhättan with its total drop of 32 meters, and also the Canal Museum. On the way we even pass the canals oldest lock Forsvik from 1813 and the Carl-Johan lock staircase of Berg with seven connected locks.

M/S Wilhelm Tham

M/S Wilhelm Tham was built at Motala Werkstad and was launched in 1912. She was listed in 2004 by the National Maritime Museums, considering her historically important. This distinction naturally makes us quite proud as it proves our efforts to preserve the ship have succeeded. Read more about M/S Wihelm Tham
