Göta Canal Highlights

A cruise along the most beautiful parts of the Göta Canal

The Göta Canal Highlights is our new cruise, which during three unforgettable days allows you to enjoy the most beautiful parts of the Göta Canal. The trip takes you from the city of Mariestad on the shores of Lake Vänern to Norsholm in the province of Östergötland, or vice versa. Full board with breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.

This trip is perfect for those that want to experience the best parts of the canal at a relaxed pace. The classic canal boat, M/S Wilhelm Tham, is docked each night. You can also book connecting bus transfer from Gothenburg to Mariestad and from Norsholm to Stockholm, or the other way around.

All this is included

Price from SEK 7.995 per person in a double cabin including full board and excursions. Download price list for 2018 >>

Sights along the way

During the cruise our boat goes through no less than 44 locks. You will experience the Göta Canal’s two longest lock staircases - Carl Johan’s lock staircase at Berg with seven connected locks and Borenshult’s lock staircase with five locks. Among other things you can enjoy a guided tour of the Forsviks Bruk – one of Sweden’s most interesting industrial communities. It may also be possible to see the paddle steamer Eric Nordevall II in Forsvik. The trip also offers a visit to the Motala Motor Museum, Sweden’s most visited automobile and adventure museum.

M/S Wilhelm Tham

M/S Wilhelm Tham was built at Motala Werkstad and was launched in 1912. She was listed in 2004 by the National Maritime Museums, considering her historically important. This distinction naturally makes us quite proud as it proves our efforts to preserve the ship have succeeded. Read more about M/S Wihelm Tham
